Cape Town is fast becoming a hotspot for craft beer, and this February the Craft Beer Project will be holding a two-day festival in honour of these much-loved brews.
The Constantia Craft Beer Project Festival will be held on the 23rd and 24th of February 2013 at The False Bay Rugby Club in Constantia (near Constantia Village). In the spotlight: 15 local and international craft brewers, accompanied by ‘delicious slow food stalls’ and local wineries.
I’m a little dubious about the use of the term ‘slow food’ – it’s a phrase bandied about with plenty of enthusiasm, but often little accuracy (read more about what ‘slow food’ really is) – but hopefully it does indicate that there will be more on offer than boerie rolls and burgers!
It sounds like a fun event not only for craft beer fans, but for families, with a “picnic-like atmosphere on the lawns with crafts, arts and a fantastic line up of live entertainment”. Kids are welcomed, and can be herded to the event’s dedicated supervised area where they can participate in activities like pony rides whilst you wander around sampling the various brews and wines on offer.
The festival runs from 10am to 10pm on the Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.
