Talk: Environmental Education in South Africa

November 5, 2009 |  by  |  What's On  |  Share

Are we equipping our youth for climate change? Climate change is a topic with increasing local and international emphasis and renewable energy is seen as one of the important and significant solutions. Do the resources available to educators reflect this? Where can good resources be sourced? Are there ‘bad’ resources?

  • Liz McDaid of the Green Connection will demonstrate video and audio resources available for educators via their communication DVD.
  • Bishop Geoff Davies of the Southern African Faith Communities Environment Institute (SAFCEI) will explain how faith communities are picking up the climate change challenge and present a range of posters and pamphlets that SAFCEI have available for educators.
  • Peter Becker will present a case study demonstrating how the packaging and presentation of information can lead to educators being misled.

Each speaker will give a short presentation followed by Q&A and an open discussion.

DATE & TIME: 10 Nov 2009 at 7.30pm

LOCATION:  Josephine Mill, Newlands.
