It’s that time of year again, when ceramics fans go weak at the knees and set their alarm clocks for a morning of serious pottery shopping under the trees at Rondebosch Park.
The Rondebosch Potters Market is a hugely popular event, held twice a year by the Ceramics Southern Africa. Hobbyist and professional potters line up, side by side, to sell the beautiful (and some not quite so beautiful, but ever so affordable) pieces they have created over the last few months.
You’ll find everything from ornate tiles to giant flowerpots and vases, from bold ceramic paintings to intricate combinations of sea-shell and pottery. And if you get there early, you can truly scoop some wonderful bargains.
The outdoorsy tree-lined setting in Rondebosch Park always makes it especially fun, and there are always a few food stalls set up to keep you fueled for a full morning of ceramic exploration.
This year’s March market takes place on Saturday 23 March 2013 – from 8am until 3pm. Entry is free and dogs are welcome.
