Cold weather in the Cape means plenty of citrus, and this Saturday the lovely Stellenbosch ‘Slow’ Market will be celebrating with a festival in honour of these seasonal fruits.
The ‘Oranges and Lemons Festival‘ will be an opportunity for the market’s traders to experiment with citrus:
Our award winning traders will tantalize you with homemade lemon cheesecakes, lime tarts, lime chocolates, chocolate brownie orange, lemon marmalades, lemon infused olives, Italian lemoncello, lemon tea’s, lemon curd, homemade lemonade and citrus salads.
Fill up on fresh trout or Black Mussel lemon vino, West Coast Oysters drizzled in lemon reduction and hearty sweet & sour orange sauce sirloin rolls.
Mmmm, they had me at ‘lime chocolates’!
As well as all the nibbles, you can also stock up on fresh lemons, oranges and other fruit. And, if you’re in the mood for a little extra shopping, the Treasury Market (a designer goods market) will be on this Saturday as well (first Saturday of the month), alongside the food market – though I imagine the citrus theme won’t apply there!
