I just received an email containing a flyer for the Nitida Farmers’ Market. I’ve heard of it, but haven’t had a chance to go and see it for myself.
Doesn’t it sound delectable?
“join us for a farm breakfast and try homemade products from 40 different suppliers – free range eggs, farm butter and fresh breads, a taste of Italy, Portugal and the East. sample your local butchery, smoked fish and chicken, exotic mushrooms, a selection of cheese, local olives and award-winning olive oils, preserves, jams, biscuits, confectionery, dried fruit and nuts, and even organic seedlings”
I’m drooling as we speak… (a lot). Unfortunately, though, once again I won’t be able to make it for this month’s market (this Saturday, 28 June) as I’ll be moving house (wish me luck!).
But, I have added it to my events calendar and shall be making a point of going to the very next one, that’s for sure… Even if that means I have to have a bit of a frugal month, just so’s I can get my hands on all the goodies I just know I’m going to desire…
If anyone’s been, or is going this weekend, please please do let me know what it’s like!
The Nitida Farmers’ Market takes place on the last Saturday of every month at the Nitida Wine Farm, in Durbanville. Winter times are 9.00am – 1.30pm. Enquiries: 021 976 1467.

yes, I visit the Nitida market regularly. Beautiful setting, and great buys: my best are free-range eggs, honey, fab breads, gluten-free muffins, fantabulous rusks, lovely farm butter (and cheaper than PnP), strong healthy herbs, also interesting olives and olive oils, mushrooms, all sorts of preserves, chicken pies. this market is well-organised and friendly. Worth getting there early – I think it opens at 7.30-8 and not so crowded in winter. But wear mud-proof footwear: this is a real farm!
Hi Judith – sounds fabulous! I haven’t had farm butter in far too long… Definitely sounds worth the trip – I’ll bring my wellies
I GOT 2 DIFFERENT DATES ON WHICH THE MARKET IS HELD: 3RD SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH AND LAST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH.
PLEASE CONFRIM ON WHICH SATURDAY THE MARKET REALLY IS.
THANK YOU
Hi Rika
The market is definitely held on the last Saturday of every month. Christmas season may differ, but you should find those details on the Nitida website closer to the time. Otherwise you can always call Getha Havenga at Nitida 021 976-1467.
