The Mother City has a new organic market: the Mielie Food Garden Organic Market.
The venue: Montebello Design Centre, 31 Newlands Avenue, Newlands.
Dates and times: every Friday (except public holidays) from 9am to 1pm.
Contact: 021 685 5574.
What you’ll find there: freshly picked (that morning) organic vegetables from the Mielie Food Garden in Khayelitsha.
Not only will you be able to pick up tasty, healthy fresh vegetables – you’ll also be supporting township-based organic farmers (all proceeds are used to help establish the community garden).
Visit fa.mielie.com for news of the garden’s progress, or email veggies@mielie.com for weekly forecasts on what will be on sale at the market.
There won’t be a market this coming Friday (it’s a public holiday), but will be on again on the 8th of May.

What a nice name for a food market. Wish I was in Cape Town! Thanks for the visit to my blog Pia. Juno
Hey Juno. Yes, it’s a lovely name – and I hope to see it soon, so I can see exactly what’s on offer. Happily, it’s literally just down the road from me, so I’m hoping it will become a regular Friday morning stop!
This looks great, will try it out next week.
