This Saturday (12 December 2009) Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate (Riebeek Kasteel) will once again be hosting their annual Christmas Fresh Produce Market Day.
It’s one of four seasonal markets the estate holds each year.
Kloovenburg’s seasonal Market Days are a showcase of the finest fresh produce from the Valley and surrounds and allows locals and visitors to the Riebeek Valley the opportunity to taste, sample and buy all these wonderful products, which are created and produced locally – in one convenient location.
I have to admit, I wasn’t blown away by what was on offer at the Spring Market this year – there wasn’t quite the cornucopia of fresh produce that I’d hoped for… But then they were competing with an art festival in town, and another market held at the atmospheric Short St, so perhaps there weren’t quite as many producers available as they’d hoped.
But, as a Christmas Market, it definitely sounds promising…
The annual Christmas Market Day is the biggest of the seasonal market events at Kloovenburg and is a must for those seeking original and authentic Christmas gifts.
And the venue is lovely, overlooking the Riebeek Valley. A day trip out there is worth it, no matter what the market itself turns out to be like!
