The Doilie Market is a new craft market set to launch this summer. Many markets launch and crash, but there’s something about this one that’s got my attention… Perhaps it’s the venue – Little Stream in Constantia (Klein Constantia Road). Or maybe the choice of name (assuming it’s meant ironically)…
They definitely have good intentions:
Doilie market is a meeting place for all with the love of art, craft and design to come and display their work, support each other, share thoughts and ideas and enjoy a morning filled with laughter, beauty and to create a reservoir of creativity. Great care has been taken to hand pick our selection of Crafters to ensure that we only have fresh, original and innovative crafts and products.
Of course, many markets have made similar claims before, and they don’t all get it right (some get it so terribly, terribly wrong), but I’m holding thumbs that the Doilie Market is going to do something special and brighten up the slightly dusty craft market scene (or am I just jaded?).
The Market launches at the end of November – just in time for the festive season – and I will most definitely be there to check it out.
Market organisers are currently looking for stallholders, so if you have something to offer and would like to be a part of the new market, please get hold of Natasha (072 997 7620) or Louise (082 327 0831) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
