Cape Quarter Village Market

Cape Quarter Village Market

A new market is launching in mid-November at the Cape Quarter in Green Point. On the face of it, it looks quite promising - like it's leaning towards being more of a shopping market than yet another 'entertainment' market (the kind where you can eat, drink, be merry, but not really do your week's grocery shopping). more

Bay Food & Wine Night Market

A few months back, the by now well established Bay Food & Wine Market held a one-off night market. I stopped in, for a while, and was really impressed by how well attended it was - people were streaming in from all sides, and the roads around the area were jam-packed with cars. Now it's time for their next night market, this coming Friday and they'll be making it a regular thing, with one every first Friday of the month from now on. more

Earlier this month, Kraft Foods South Africa announced that it is now the "FIRST major South African business to achieve Fairtrade certification for its much-loved chocolate brand, Cadbury Dairy Milk [plain]." I was invited to the media launch and although I did find Kraft's message a little saccharine and self-serving at times ("multiplying joy by going Fairtrade"), I do think that what they're doing is absolutely fantastic. more
