It’s my favourite market, and this week they’re doing something extra-special…
A new community food and craft market launches next Saturday (7 August) in the Bo-Kaap.
Exciting news for foodies in the Constantia area: a new food market is about to launch at the sports grounds opposite Constantia Village.
There’s an exciting new market on the scene… At the end of January, the first Waldorf Night Market was held at the lovely grounds of Waldorf School in Constantia. Ever curious, and loving the idea of an evening market, I went along to take a look , and I was really impressed by the quality and variety on offer.
Well, I’m always on the lookout for new markets, and it seems there’ll be one coming to Kloof Street this February.
Would ya look at this beauty? I found this delectable eggs benedict not at a fancy restaurant or cafe but at market! At the Earth Fair Market in Tokai, to be exact. Two eggs, perfectly poached, on top of a potato and onion rosti, crispy streaky bacon, topped with a hollandaise sauce. Add a glass of Avondale’s biodynamic bubbly to the picture and you have, folks, what I consider a perfect Saturday morning!
One of the smaller markets around Cape Town is the Kalk Bay Fresh Etc Market, held in the little seaside village every third Sunday of the month. The market is taking a break, though, and won’t be on this month – relaunching again in February.
The Earth Fair Market is gearing up for silly season and hosting a series of themed events, the first of which takes place this evening (and has started at the time of writing this). A little early for Mardi Gras, perhaps, but it’s definitely likely to be rather festive!
