St George’s Mall Market launches next week
Some awesome, awesome news for town-based foodies: a new open-air fresh food market will be launching in the city next week. Jacqui Simpson, owner and creator of the Earth Fair Market in Tokai (one of my favourite Cape Town markets) is behind this new street market, and given her success with the Tokai market, I have a very good feeling this one will do very well indeed. more

This week I helped organise an impromptu Slow Food Mother City visit to the 'Garden of Elgin', a specialty food garden on Paul Cluver Estate. There, we discovered that a lemon isn't always what you'd expect, that beets can grow as large as your head, and that tomatoes grow in trees (not really). more

This Sunday the Kirstenbosch Craft Market holds its first market of the 2010/2011 summer season. Same time (9am-3pm), same place (Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages), but perhaps not all of the same traders (variety is the spice of life, after all). more
