Bloggers around the world are joining forces to take part in a massive blogger bake off, the noble aim of which is “to change the world and help end starvation in Africa”.
Spearheaded by Breadline Africa, the Worldwide Blogger Bake Off was launched last week on Blog Action Day, and hopes to raise $1 Million to reach this goal.
Why join in? Because, lovely readers, with your support Breadline Africa can “convert shipping containers into locations for food production and distribution. These sustainable community kitchens will not only provide foods such as bread and soup to those in need, but also opportunities for skills development within these poor communities”.
That’s why.
So, since I was tagged to join the bake-off by the Cape Town Oracle, I will match her R90 donation to the cause and it’d be great if some of you guys out there could do the same (not necessarily the amount – just the donation bit).
I am, however, no baker (especially as I’m allergic to wheat), so although I will attempt to make something resembling a loaf of bread-like proportions, I can’t promise I’ll be able to bring myself to blog about it! Watch this space…
Anyhow, time to pass on the proverbial baton, so I hereby tag the following five bloggers to take up this here challenge in their own inimitable fashion:
Bake bread, give dough. Here’s to getting Breadline Africa to their target, and beyond!
Oh, and there’s more: “Why join? Other than the overwhelming sense of satisfaction from lending a helping hand, the new snazzy container kitchen could be named after you or your blog as well as a Amazon voucher worth $500.”
DISCLAIMER: Please use any event information as a guide only. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy thereof, things do change – and the best way to make sure something is definitely on is to contact the event organisers themselves. Full bells’n'whistles disclaimer here.

I’m also taking part in this – it’s a great initiative and a great excuse to bake bread! Baked my bread over the weekend – now I just have to get round to posting…

It’s a great idea indeed! Now I just have to try to find a bread recipe I can’t possibly stuff up… (wish me luck).
Hi Pia,
My reply is a little belated but I just wanted to say thanks for posting about our Blogger Bake Off. The response in South Africa has been awesome.
We’re looking at some local CT projects that will benefit from the money raised and are going to blog about these soon so please check us out.
I also want to get a few bloggers together and organise a project visit so if you’re interested let me know!
Now … about that bread recipe …
Cheers,
