Harvest season is upon the winelands, and the area is abuzz with grape picking and related activities. A number of harvest-related events and festivals are coming up, one of which is the return of the Asara Pure Food Market.
This market was first held in mid-December last year. I unfortunately couldn’t make it, but it sounded like a wonderful way to spend a lazy morning/afternoon – munching on local foods and wines and enjoying the beautiful summer sunshine.
Seasonal markets really appeal to me, so I’m excited that the Asara Estate will be holding another market as we go into autumn (yep, time’s a-flyin’) – this time a celebration of the late summer harvest.
Here’s what’s on the cards:
Join Asara as it reaps the rewards of the 2012 harvest! On offer will be seasonal fruits and vegetables, gourmet meats, artisanal cheese’s, Asara’s freshly baked breads, handmade macaroons and of course, Asara’s wines. Relax with live music while you take in the breathtaking mountain and vineyard views. There are plenty of activities that will keep the little ones entertained, including face-painting. Bring along an empty canister and let your child collect their own fresh grape juice from Asara’s winery team, using an old-fashioned hand press.
I especially like the sound of the fresh grape juice – here’s hoping adults can have some too!
